Bibb Allen

Biography

Dr Allen Bibb is President of the International Society of Radiology (ISR) and a diagnostic radiologist with the Birmingham Radiological Group at Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama. For over a decade, he has worked to expand access to medical imaging in low- and middle-income countries, with a strong focus on advancing global health equity.  

A long-standing member of the ISR Executive Committee, Dr Allen has played a key role in forging partnerships with the World Health Organization and the International Atomic Energy Agency to promote radiological education, safety, and access in underserved regions. His work supports global efforts to strengthen imaging infrastructure, enhance quality, and reduce disparities in care. 

Dr Allen is a past president of the American College of Radiology (ACR) and chaired its Board of Chancellors. He later served as Chief Medical Officer of the ACR Data Science Institute, where he led initiatives at the intersection of radiology and artificial intelligence. 

With expertise in healthcare economics, policy, and data science, Dr Allen continues to champion policies that improve radiological care worldwide. His leadership reflects a commitment to ensuring that all patients—regardless of geography—benefit from the life-saving power of medical imaging.
