Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah
Biography
Throughout his career, Dr Noor Abdullah has contributed to the progress of Malaysia’s health system towards achieving UHC. During his tenure as Director-General of Health, he focused on strengthening essential public health functions for a more resilient health system including addressing emerging preparedness and response, enhancing health security and intersectoral collaborations. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he managed the challenges of the unprecedented public health crisis, contributing to the national and international response.
Since 2022, Noor has been serving as the Chairperson of WHO Standing Committee on Health Emergency Prevention, Preparedness and Response (SCHEPPR) which assists Member States in navigating through the complexity of health diplomacies to ensure this global public health crisis is properly addressed and promote good practice and coordination between Member States for emergency prevention and preparedness.
